To all of our wonderful early learning service providers and your amazing early childhood educators,
We hope you and your team members had a really special, fun-filled celebration for Early Childhood Educators’ Day 2024!
(How did the day go so quickly?!!!)
According to our map of participating services, this year over 7,000 early learning services across Australia joined in the fun! It was our biggest celebration yet, and we couldn’t be more excited.
It’s so fantastic to see more and more learning services getting involved each year, letting their team members know just how much they are appreciated and at the same time contributing to a really positive, healthy team culture. Since the first celebration in 2011, we’ve seen the event grow and mature, and it has now become a celebrated occasion not just for the early learning sector, but for the broader community.
We’re so proud of how Early Childhood Educators’ Day is shining a spotlight on the incredible work you do.
Thanks again to those of you who have posted your photos to our 2024 Photo Gallery! It has been so much fun looking at your varied celebrations across the country.
Just a friendly reminder that thanks to our wonderful Sponsors, we have some give-aways to hand out next Monday! You can still be in the running if you post photos over the weekend. We will be giving them away randomly (rather than based on any skill or preference) among the people who posted photos and completed the give-aways form. This means you only need to complete the form once to be in the running. 🙂
1 x $250 Cargo Crew voucher to be put towards a uniform refresh for the team.
1 x Cargo Crew family apron pack so you can have fun cooking together while staying clean!
To be in the running for the give-aways, just upload one or more photos to our give-aways form via the Photo Gallery and remember to complete the give-aways form via pop-up ‘thank you’ note after you have posted a photo.
We will select and notify the winners directly on Monday next week.
Enjoy the rest of this very special week!
Most importantly we hope you and your valued team of early childhood educators, along with all your other staff, have a really special day today. It’s all about them and the special moments that today brings.

Every year we like to select a theme for Early Childhood Educators’ Day to add some light and colour to the celebrations, whilst reflecting what’s going on in the early learning sector from an operational and cultural perspective.
We’re delighted to announce that the 2024 theme for Early Childhood Educators’ Day is ‘Embracing diversity has early beginnings‘.
This year we celebrate the vital role that early childhood educators play in fostering a society that values diversity and promotes inclusivity. As the foundation of our future leaders, it is important that young children learn from the very beginning to appreciate and celebrate the little differences that make us all unique.
In addition to valuing the diversity among our children, we also recognise and celebrate the unique diversity among our early childhood educators. We believe that the variety of their experiences, national and cultural backgrounds and perspectives enriches the educational environment and fosters a more inclusive and supportive community for all. By embracing the diversity of our educators, we create a culture of mutual respect, understanding and creativity that benefits everyone involved.
We hope the 2024 theme strikes a meaningful chord with early learning service providers, the families who attend early learning services and most importantly with our valued early childhood educators.
We’re also delighted to share that our Apparel Sponsor Cargo Crew has brought this design to life with a brand new selection of T-shirts, aprons, tote bags, sun hats and key rings to help your team celebrate Early Childhood Educators’ Day in style!
Watch this space for the launch of Cargo Crew’s in mid July, at which time you can place your online orders for the ‘Embracing diversity has early beginnings‘ apparel.

Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day !
Today is a very special day for Australia’s early childhood educators, as we recognise and celebrate the vital role they play in the lives of young children and their families. At the local level, we hope early learning services and their families say thank you to their early childhood educators in their own special way.
At the national level, we would like to let each and every one of Australia’s early childhood educators know how much they are appreciated, but we can’t do it alone!
As usual, we have called upon a number of our early learning stakeholders to say a few words.
We’re very grateful for their support and we thank them for their contributions to the video below.
We encourage all early learning service providers to share this special video with their team of educators, as part of their celebrations today and across the week.
To each & every one of our early childhood educators, we say… THANK YOU.
We’re delighted to share with you a few words from our 2023 Sponsor Child Care Super:
“Children are not the people of tomorrow, but people today. They should be allowed to grow into whoever they were meant to be – The unknown person inside each of them is the hope for the future.”
– Janusz Korczak
Being part of the village that raises a child is an incredibly rewarding role, but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy one. And while at Child Care Super we know that educating and caring for children is a huge responsibility, sometimes the individuals who work in early learning and childhood education don’t get the credit they deserve.
That’s why we’re super proud to be sponsoring Early Childhood Educator’s Day in 2023 – we want to shout our gratitude, admiration and awe from the rooftops and make sure everyone else knows it too!
As a super fund, our members are mainly women, which makes sense given early childhood education and care is a female-dominated industry. Historically, women have been less celebrated and appreciated by society for the work they do, both at home and in the workforce. And we’re all about changing that. It’s another reason why we’re so excited to be supporting ECE day and celebrating the incredibly smart, hardworking women in the early learning industry.
To all of you – thank you. Thank you for the work you do to lay the foundation for the learning and development of Australian children. The impact you have on the lives of the children and families you work with is immense. We know those communities rely on you and we’re grateful for everything you do to support them.
To any employers in the industry who use Child Care Super as a default fund – we thank you too. We hope that today you are celebrating your wonderful staff and supporting them in any way you can.
Don’t forget that anyone who is a member of Child Care Super has access to Virtual Care, an app from our insurer Metlife, that’s designed to provide members and their immediate families with a range of expert medical and wellness services.
Using Virtual Care your employees can receive in-depth, confidential medical reviews from a doctor, as well as the option to submit online questions to GPs and paediatricians. They can also speak to a mental health clinician at no charge and discuss nutrition and fitness with one of Virtual Care’s qualified dieticians or exercise physiologists.
Child Care Super is thrilled to be sponsoring Early Educator’s Day 2023 – thank you for allowing us to help spread awareness and recognition for the early learning sector and to be a part of this special event.

As an employer, you can implement strategies for a healthy workplace which promote the mental and physical wellbeing of your staff and also provide support to anyone who may be experiencing mental health issues.
A very important part of your strategy to foster a mentally healthy workplace includes offering your team members access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which aims to enhance mental health and wellbeing, maximise productivity and improve organisational culture.
By improving your team members’ lives and wellbeing, they will be happier, healthier, and ultimately more engaged and productive at work.
While lifestyle factors including work, diet, drugs and lack of sleep can all affect one’s mental health, those struggling with a mental health problem are often experiencing additional factors.
Life experiences such as serious illness or a death in the family, family or marital problems, physical health problems, social isolation, study or work stress can all have an impact on the mental health of your team members.
If mental health issues among your team are not addressed, they can eventually lead to high absenteeism, lost productivity and high staff turnover.
You may be interested to know that ACECQA’s Ten Year Workforce Strategy includes an entire focus area on wellbeing (Focus Area 4 on page 52), which calls for research into practical mental health strategies for employees that work and the promotion of these wellbeing supports.
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an external service, paid for by the employer, to ensure their employees and their families have access to professional assistance for personal or work-related issues that are impacting on their employment or work performance.
The EAP usually offers your team of staff a suite of practical services such as counselling or therapy from psychologists, social workers and other mental health professionals along with practical everyday life support including general health advice and programs. A comprehensive EAP can even include legal services and financial management or debt support.
Any EAP benefits received by employees or family members remain confidential. This means that while the employer pays for the service, they have no insight into an employee’s specific use of the service.
That is, employers do not get to know who is utilizing the service, what the reasons are for, or how often employees call.
This is an important detail, as it means that employees can trust that they are engaging with a private, confidential service.
It is the employer who pays for an EAP service, so that it can be offered at no cost to the employees.
Under most EAP packages to employers, the employer pays an annual subscription fee and sometimes additional charges depending on the service being accessed by the staff, such as the counselling service (which can be face-to-face or a telehealth service).
Generally the EAP subscription fee to the employer can range from $2,000 – $5,000 annually, with an additional average cost of approximately $90 a year per employee. The total cost to the business will vary depending on the number of staff employed. As an example, for a business that has 30 staff, the annual cost for an EAP would work out to approximately $5,000 to $8,000 a year.
Given the important nature of an EAP, the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) wanted to ensure that the cost of an EAP would not be a barrier to any early learning service provider offering this service to their team of staff. In order to offer the early learning sector a high-quality Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at a fraction of the usual cost, ACA has proudly partnered with TELUS Health – the world’s largest EAP provider.
ACA’s partnership with TELUS Health means that we can offer an ongoing high-quality EAP package to the early learning sector at a fraction of the usual annual cost. You don’t have to be an ACA member to take advantage of this EAP offer.
When you sign up to the ACA/TELUS Health offer, your team of staff will have 24/7 support by phone, online by browser and by mobile app, with 24/7 access to telephone counselling as well as professional advisors for advice, work-life support, and referrals. You can read more about the costs and the extent of the services here.
